Were you aware that a dental first aid kit is a vital aspect of emergency preparedness? You can’t predict when you or someone else around you could lose a crown or a dental filling, chip a tooth or get a toothache. Find a durable, impermeable box and fill it with some or all of the following suggested items. We recommend that you store your kit in a place that is easily available, like your bathroom cabinet.

-Dental cement: a mixture of liquid and powder intended to temporarily hold a loose crown or tooth in place. It can be found online or at your local drugstore.
-Temporary filling material: a polymer that temporarily mends your lost filling.
-Small mixing bowl and dental spatula: for mixing cement or filling material
-Anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen
-Dental picks: long metal picks that dentists use to clean your teeth can be purchased online
-Dental wax: provides relief for slight irritation from orthodontic appliances or dental appliances
-Gauze pads
-Tweezers
-Cotton rolls/pads
-Oral anesthetic (i.e. Oragel)
-Dental mirror
-Antiseptic skin wipes
-Dental floss/flossers
-Instruction sheet

While these objects are certainly useful, keep in mind that they typically provide only provisional results.
